Mundan Ceremony

Mundan Ceremony, also known as Chudakarana Sanskar, is one of the important Hindu Samskaras performed during the early years of a child’s life. The word Chudakarana refers to the ritual shaving of the child’s first hair. This sacred ritual symbolizes purification, removal of negativity from past births and spiritual growth of the child. Traditionally, Mundan Sanskar is performed during the first or third year of the child’s life. It is believed that the hair carried from birth may retain impressions from previous births. Removing the hair symbolizes a fresh and positive beginning for the child. The ceremony is conducted with Vedic rituals and mantras to invoke blessings for: • Healthy physical growth • Mental well-being • Spiritual protection • Positive energy and prosperity During the ceremony, the child’s head is shaved while sacred mantras are chanted.
